I am Dragutin Jastrebic, Oracle DBA, SQL Server DBA and IT Architect with 29 years of experience in IT.
My area of interest are the following:
-Performance tunning
-Backup and Recovery
-High availablity
-Data warehousing
-Security
More globally:
-IT Architectures
-AI, Big data
To create this blog , I was inspired by Peter Hagar’s approach in his “Practical Java” book (in the preface, Peter wrote that, on his turn, he was inspired by Scott Meyers’s “Effective C++”) . You will therefore find here “a little of everything” , classified in 5 areas (Tuning, Backup & recovery, High availability, Datawarehousing/Big Data and Security) .
Initially, it was an Oracle oriented blog, but now, I will introduce new topics, such as other databases, Big Data and AI tools, some other things as well.
In fact, the new approach will be more like scientific vulgarisation, or popular science:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_science
So in this blog you will see a lot what other experts said, but I will give my own opinions as well, and publish my own investigations et research.
For exemple , when talking about tunning strategies, I explain the approach of Jonathan Lewis: (https://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/)
and the approach of Stephane Faroult:
but will show my own approach as well:
I keep for the moment my old blog, it is related exclusively to Backup & Recovery problems:

And my new, innovative company:
